Spanking beating has nothing to do with the behaviour of your child

Spanking, beating has nothing to do with the behaviour of your child...
.
It is your inability to cope and interpret such behaviour that has everything to do with how it triggers your emotions as a parent, guardian or teacher...
.
Your child and the issue or behaviour are two different entities..
.
In other words, spanking and beating a child is as a result of your pain and not his behaviour..
.
Parenting from the position of knowledge..

Bookkies Lameed spare the rod and spoil the child. Foolishness abounds in the heart of a child but with the rod of correction the child is set right I didn't write the Bible. I have encountered many ruined children whose parents spared the rod. I have encountered many others who understand the rod of correction used in love shaped them for greater futures. Balance is the key. Love is the watch word.

Obiageli Oraka-Oifoghe OK ma'am, I quite understand where you are coming from..First off, lets begin to wonder who gave the interpretation that the "rod of correction" the bible was referring to is our "belts" "pankere" "cablewire" "cain" and other "…Xem thêm

Bookkies Lameed but I am sure that balance and love were included in my note. I don't seek justification... I merely stated fact.Children are different... some require cane others don't . Parents are not robots.

You're correct sis, the word rod should not be taken litrarily, it could be any other means of discipline.

I wonder why we don't use real "Rod" to hit our children really! The bible said Rod not cane. I am still looking for who used this rod on their child as an example in scripture?

Wendy Onyenezi-Ologe no depth into the understanding of the bible. Those advocating for the rod should also kill their children afterall, it's also in the bible.…Xem thêm

Next thing some people would rush to reference the bible! Quoting spare the rod as if the rod of correction necessarily means rod literally! Keep speaking ma'am!

Its really difficult. I struggled with unlearning and relearning this topic of discussion for 5years. I just discovered how words of affirmation makes my son so much better. No more spanking in my home, i now know my own ROD.Thanks Bookkies Lameed, RonkePosh Adeniyi Le Poshe and Wendy Onyenezi-Ologe for all you do.

I hear you Bookkies Lameed. You've raised an issue many are struggling with right now particularly as many of us were raised under times where the rod signified to all intents and purposes the cane, flogging and whipping (being heavy handed). I think what might help is some examples/ideas of other ways to instil discipline other than what we culturally accepted as norm. Because for many who still hold on to that norm, they can see numerous instances where children in the current generation who were not raised in a heavy handed way pretty much running riot, being disrespectful and getting up to no good. So simply saying stop it isn't going to help as alternative appears even worse.
