someone whose works I admire posted a really bad rape joke. His friend tried to call him out on it, and he responded with an even worst sexist remark.
I immediately lost respect. Do i still think his works are good? Yeah, i do. But i've lost interest in listening to his stuff, or going to his shows, or working with him ever again.
I guess this answers my own question, "in appreciating art, can we be objective and separate the person from the work?" Sure, we can. But we can also choose whether or not we want to keep supporting them if they cross a line.
