Many months ago (actually years) in the process of our charity activities, a patient we were assisting developed some complications. We were in near panic because the condition required services of ICU facility.
Our request to admit the patient at our national referral hospital could not go through. There was no space. As we placed calls to different hospitals and getting negative responses, one doctor asked if we had tried a hospital by the name KOMAROCK MODERN HOSPITAL at UTAWALA. None of us ever heard of the hospital before. We had to Google their contacts. It was night time.
To our surprise and after many calls we were asked to take our patient. They were willing to send an ambulance to where we were for the sake of the patient. I can't remember them asking for a deposit until morning. Perhaps the condition of the patient made them overlook the obvious. Perhaps it was their norm. I was surprised.
At the hospital the proprietor Dr. Nyamu and his wife Harriet Nyamu were on standby to receive our patient. Yes, at night. A very walm welcome we got, our patient was admitted and quickly attended by the doctors.
A 100 bed capacty 24 hr operations facility with fully equipped theatre, CT scan, modern ICU, we were home. We experiencd care right from admission.
Few days later our patient was ready for discharge. When we looked at the bill we could not believe the charges. So friendly to clients from not well to do backgrounds.
I requested the attending staff to allow us to meet the MD of the facility just to thank them for the excellent services we received at the hospital. We were directed to Harriet's office who later took us to Dr. Nyamu's office.
We developed a friendship that has been significantly helpful to our mission in years. And Harriet shared that to us. Always reaching out when we had a medical case.
A man was found in Garissa streets looking sick. He could neither talk or walk. Komarock Modern agreed to our request to treat him without asking for deposit. We cleared entire bill on day of discharge.
Remember our girl Eunice Wanjiku from Baraniki? The day we were visiting her at home after discharge from hospital Harriet accompanied us. She had come along with the hospital's dietician to help in formulating a feeding plan for our girl.
The day we were visiting the triplets at Narok Harriet offered a month's supply for the babies.
Always ready to support initiatives geared to improving welfare of our communities.
Last week we received a call from Harriet, she informed me of their desire to provide modern healthcare services to residents of Tharaka Nithi County. The 150 beds hospital has ultra modern ICU/HDU/Dialysis unit, NBU, CT Scan and other facilities. She was requesting we grace the official opening of the hospital at KATHWANA.
I have no doubt our patients will experience premium care. Even the area Governor is here to welcome residents to the new baby in town.
Help me congratulate Dr & Mrs Nyamu for this great thought.
